Finding Our Way Back Together

After several months of working alone together in various ways – truly working alone, as well as alone with our spouses, kids, roommates, pets -- many of us are beginning to cautiously and anxiously make our way back to work, to the grocery store, to socially distanced walks, not to mention other ways of actually being together in person.

We are having to be in conversation with ourselves, with our colleagues and our bosses, with our family and friends about what we are thinking, wanting, willing and unwilling to do when it comes to being together in person. Many of us will also find ourselves in conversations about race. We are holding a lot.

Our nervous systems, bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits overloaded. We at A Human Workplace are feeling it. We imagine you are, too. We cannot hold it alone (despite what we may often think). In order to stay present with and resilient for those who depend on us, we must take care of ourselves.

In this gathering, we will:

 • Slow down, reflect, connect to ourselves, and share what we are holding.

 • We will have the honor of listening to others.

These simple acts are gifts that help us reduce the stress coursing through our nervous systems, find our center, renew our energy, connect to what matters, and recover our mental focus. They remind us of the practices that are always available.

If you are concerned about “talking with strangers”, please know that many folks express their surprise and appreciation for how helpful it was to do so and how safe they felt doing it! There is a special kind of freedom and connection we can find in our personal and collective humanity. This feels more important now than ever. We hope you’ll join us!
